It is final! The biggest fight of 2009 between pound-for-pound king Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao and junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton will be on 2nd May 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and it is live at HBO network, the industry leader in pay-per-view boxing.
“That is correct. HBO has the fight. HBO will do the pay-per-view, the deal was closed Friday.” Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com Sunday night. There were lots of things considered before the fight…Including an offer from Showtime which their sister network CBS will highlights the marketing and promotions of the fight match. Top Rank Bob Arum, Manny’s promoter and Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer promoter of Ricky Hatton agreed on the network HBO, besides, both parties have previous experience on the network.
Both Pacquiao and Hatton have made their big fights with HBO PPV. To mentions are Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao vs “Golden Boy” Oscar Dela Hoya bout last December 6th, 2008 that made a history on highest selling pay-per-view, placing to 8th. While Ricky Hatton vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the welterweight title challenge last 2007 made to a 900 thousand ppv.
